Journey Worthwhile for Propulsion Team

Six Propulsion Aquatic swimmers made the journey to Cranbourne to compete in the Casey Tigersharks Encouragement meet.
Mikayla Caruana continued her impressive performances by finishing 6th in the backstroke and butterfly. She also managed to slash 9 seconds off her 50m breaststroke p.b.
Jasmine Caruana should also be congratulated on her impressive performances considering she competed in 5 events including two 100m races.
Marie-Elise made an exciting debut, competing in the freestyle and backstroke events. Her 50m freestyle time of 44.88 was particularly impressive.

Claire Wong and Atlanta Simutanyi not only swam extremely well but also provided the in-meet entertainment with their constant chatter and giggles. Claire surprised even herself by posting a 37.75 in the 50m freestyle. Atlanta swam brilliantly in her first butterfly race.
Liam Martin (left) proved he is a swimmer to watch for with his impressive performances.
Liam began the meet by finishing 5th of 27 swimmers in the 100m freestyle. However, the best was yet to come with Liam finishing 3rd in the 11 yr old 50m butterfly and 50m freestyle posting times of 41.53 and 33.37 respectively.

Propulsion Aquatic Swimmers Tackle All Junior Champs

Propulsion Aquatic swimmers exceeded all expectations at the recent All Junior Championships. The All Junior Championships begun with the Metro North All Junior Preliminaries at the Richmond Aquatic Centre, with the top 10 swimmers for each event moving on to the semi-finals.

Emilie Wong had a tremendous meet qualifying 10th quickest in the 9yr old girls freestyle and 5th quickest in the district for the 50m breaststroke. Cesca Falcini again showed that she is one of the premier 7 yr olds in the district with three brilliant swims. She qualified 8th fastest in the 8/under 50m backstroke and 9th fastest in the freestyle, and despite just finishing 11th in the 50m breaststroke, she was the fastest 7yr old in all the events she competed. Mikayla Caruana further emphasized the young talent at Propulsion Aquatic by finishing 9th in the 9/under breaststroke and missing out on a semi final place by .19th of a second in the backstroke.

Jasmine Caruana swam brilliantly on the night, despite missing out on a semi final berth. Jasmine swam a heavy program in a highly competitive age group. Placing 14th of 30 swimmers in the district in the 10 yr old girls 50m breaststroke was one such great effort.

Raphael Falcini was in for a busy night with his program consisting of all four strokes. Expectations were lowered slightly considering he had been unwell during the week. However, he showed great courage and ability by not only swimming all 4 strokes, but qualifying for every event too. His results included 4th in the 9 yr old boys breaststroke, 5th in freestyle, 6th in butterfly and 6th in backstroke.

A month later, Raphael, Emilie, Mikayla and Cesca swam on one of the biggest stages for Victorian Junior swimming at the Metro All Junior Semi Finals. The Semi-Finals consisted of the top 10 place getters of all the metropolitan Melbourne districts.

Following his outstanding performance at Richmond, Raphael Falcini was again swimming all four strokes. His performance on the day was fantastic, he finished 29th in the 9 yr old boys butterfly, 32nd in the freestyle, 33rd in the backstroke and 31st in the breaststroke. Cesca Falcini swam brilliantly, swimming against many kids a year older. She finished 36th in the 8/under 50m freestyle and 32nd in the 50m backstroke. Mikayla Caruana learnt how hard the swimming adjudicators can be after being disqualified for a minor misdemeanor in her 50m breaststroke. Despite the DQ she must be congratulated on making it to the Semi-Finals. A very relaxed Emilie swam sensationally finishing 34th her freestyle and 25th in the 9 year old girls breaststroke after smashing her p.b. in the event.

A big thank you goes out to Jasmine Caruana for her help organising some very nervous kids. The All Junior results were tremendous considering all the semi-finalist swimmers have only been swimming in a squad for 12 months or less. They should be very proud of their achievements.

Propulsion 1,2 Highlights Brilliant Day In The Pool

For a group of Propulsion Swimmers, the summer swimming season started at the Lara encouragement meet. It proved to be the most successful meet to date for Propulsion Aquatic.
The meet began well with Jasmine Caruana smashing her 50m Butterfly P.B. by 7 seconds. It was the first of 4 events Jasmine was to swim in. Cesca was next in the water in the 7 yr old girls backstroke, it was her first time swimming the 50m backstroke. Amazingly, she finished first, and doing so became Propulsion Aquatic’s first gold medalist. Raphael Falcini also was able to come away with a bronze medal in the 9 yr old boys 50m backstroke.
The Lara Encouragement meet was Mikayla Caruana’s first swim meet. Her first event was the girls 7 year old breaststroke. Remarkably, she was able to win a gold medal in her maiden swim. Jasmine Caruana continued her good form in the 50m breaststroke to slash 6 seconds off her previous best.
The highlight of the day was the 7 yr old girls freestyle. With Cesca Falcini touching the wall first followed by Mikayla Caruana finishing second, it was a memorable moment for all those involved. Raphael and Jasmine capped off a unforgettable day with Raphael finishing with another bronze medal in the 50m freestyle and Jasmine claiming another p.b. and finishing 8th in the 50m freestyle.
